Triumphant Kingfisher. Bowl, Pendant & Brooch
The stunning kingfisher rises triumphantly from the deep blue, leaving a silver spiral of water behind him, with his catch of a shiny silver fish.
This piece was conceived by Bryony whilst watching kingfishers diving and rising from the water. It is a multi-functional piece - the kingfisher and spiral of water are attached by magnets and can be removed, so that the bird can be worn as a statement necklace.
The silver spiral of water can be placed on the glass in two ways, with slots between the overlapping swirls of silver for flower stems to be placed.
The three dimensional kingfisher has an articulated beak, with hidden steel spring inside, so that it can clasp the Wee Silver Darling brooch in his mouth. It has simple hooks under each wing, for a chain to be attached, so that it can be worn as a stunning necklace.
The fish brooch is made combining chased silver and a beautiful antique mother of pearl gaming counters. These Chinese Ching Dynasty counters were made circa 1750 and are individually carved with intricate designs.
The silver back of the brooch is pierced out to reveal the reverse of the mother of pearl counter.
