Pair of tall beakers. Price on Request
SOLD. Similar beakers available for commission with different designs.
This pair of tall silver tumblers have imagery inspired by the Queen in her Platinum Jubilee year.
I wanted to design pieces which nodded in a subtle way to this momentous occasion, now all the more poignant since her recent death. The Queen, as with royal tradition, was the Keeper of the Swans, responsible for these glorious birds on any open water in the British Isles.
Swans wearing crowns around their necks appear in Heraldry and folk tales & were used as livery badges by a future King Henry V in 1400. The exquisite ‘Dunstable Swan’ Jewell, a three-dimensional tiny Swan, wrought from gold and white enamel, can be seen in the British Museum. The tale of the Swan Knight also provided inspiration.
The interior of the tumblers and crown detail is gold plated. The crowns boast feature hallmarks from Edinburgh and the Platinum Jubilee Mark.
The Swan’s flowing feathers sweep around the beaker and are made using Bryony's specialist technique of chasing and repoussé.
Chased silver, gilt interior and crown details. Platinum Jubilee Hallmark.
12 x 7 x 5cm
